The Future of iPhone

What does the future hold for us?

On September 12, 2017 the SCS team virtually attended the highly anticipated Apple Special Event.

Apple is revamping their in-store experience, giving it a more 'Town Square' feel. These new community gathering spots, are meant to bring the best of Apple together, where everyone is welcome.

As for the unveiling of their products, Apple announced the following:

  • The new software update, Watch OS 4 plans on bringing additional features and advancements to existing apps
  • The Apple Watch 3 (now with cellular), you can still use the watch, with/without your iPhone. It has a new processor that is up to 70% faster, in the same form factor as the Apple Watch 2.
  • There weren't big changes to the Apple TV, besides the much requested 4K HDR. The Apple TV 4K has a new A10X Fusion processor, which makes handling 4K HDR effortless.
  • iPhone 8 / 8+ is almost identical to the iPhone 7. The only changes being an all glass back, new speaker system, faster A11 Bionic processor. Slightly updated 12MP camera system, calibrated for Augmented Reality. They have finally managed to keep up with the competition and introduced Qi Wireless Charging.
  • Just when you think that's all. Tim Cook comes out with the famous phrase,
"And One More Thing." He then unveiled the new iPhone X. This one has a 5.8" bezel-less screen, and no home button Also, say goodbye to TouchID (feels like they like to take things away from us, RIP headphone jack). There is a new way to unlock your phone with FaceID. It also has a faster A11 bionic processor, slightly updated camera, now with Optical Image Stabilizer for both cameras. It has been an entire decade of Apple revolutionizing the tech industry. The iPhone X (TEN) is packed with features, but it's not as revolutionary as I would have hoped, given Apple's track record.
