what’s this Altiris thing?
Some users may have noticed a new friend in their hidden
icons. Altiris, or Symantec
Management Agent, is a new service provided by Symantec. Altiris will smooth over system updates and improve many of our
campus security features. Because software in the current age exchanges so much
data, so quickly, updates for security and functionality are constantly
changing. This program manages those updates, making certain they transition smoothly
to the most secure possible versions while keeping ESU compliant with security,
update and software licensing.
All in all, the new Symantec
Management Agent clears the way for you to use your computer, ensuring
compliance while avoiding interrupting your work day. If you ever have any
