myIT Tip of the Week

Classroom Support

Faculty and Staff,

Are you having issues playing videos in your classroom? Is your audio always a hit or miss when it comes time to teach? Here are some troubleshooting steps that we recommend here at IT:

1) Are you using the SMART login? Logging in with SMART will resolve audio issues on classroom computers/SMART boards almost all of the time. The SMART login is highly recommended, as this user profile contains the necessary settings for our classroom technology. IT has no other way of making sure each user has the corrected settings chosen on their account. If you forget the login, or are unsure, you can call the help desk at 620-341-5555.

2) Have you tried restarting the machine? Restarting the computer is another common solution to audio issues in the classroom.

3) Protect your data while using the SMART login. Since our classrooms are best equipped to use the SMART login for everyone, this means that we should not be signing into any apps directly on the SMART desktop, or any browsers on this account as well.

4) When navigating to sites on browsers, try using an “Incognito Window”, so that none of your history or data is kept on the SMART login. You can see our blog post about private browsers if you are needing help with this. When you are trying to access your files from OneDrive on a SMART classroom, using a private window will be important, so that nobody else can access your OneDrive or SharePoint files. Please remember not to sync your OneDrive to the computer while logged in as SMART. Only use the web version of OneDrive on the SMART login while using a private browser.

Be sure to check back next week and we will have some SMART podium tips from our classroom techs.
